A fresh start for your career: young professionals at Nedlin
Do you also want to improve every day? In that case, an internship, traineeship or job at Nedlin can be a great first step in your career. Young professionals Sem Thijssen, Melissa Metzen and Dave Jardon have walked this path for the past year. Sem: “I literally closed the door behind me as an intern on Friday, and opened it again on Monday as a commercial employee. I really didn’t notice much difference”, he says, and laughs: “Well, except for my payslip!.”
Sem: “I started my internship with a phone call about an incorrect delivery slip, and twenty weeks later that was my own client contact. I was gradually getting more responsibilities, and that’s still the case now that I have my job”. Melissa: “During your first week, you start in the place where the driver delivers the laundry, at the laundry facility, on the floor. Then you take part in all the processes, until the clean laundry is delivered”. Sem adds: “I have even been on the road with the drivers for two days”. Melissa: “This experience really gives you a sense of what we do at Nedlin. At the moment I am working at Healthcare. If a client asks us a question, I know what I’m talking about”.
Dave is trainee at Nedlin: “During my first interview, I asked Stef de Win honestly: do you think I could get a job here after my internship? If you do well, yes, was his honest answer. Now I am a trainee and in the middle of finishing my education, and then I’ll keep growing”.
Melissa: “My job fits perfectly with what I have learned during my training. For example, working through projects and change management are things that I use every day. At Nedlin, you are really challenged to keep developing yourself. Not only during your daily work, but for instance also during projects relating to corporate social responsibility. You do this together with people from outside your own department”. Dave: “What’s more, Melissa, Sem and I are in a project group together. We are developing something to work on sustainability together with the people from production. Better every day: that’s something we’re all working together on”.
From day one you can start trying things by yourself, it’s really learning by doing.
Sem: “I think you can really tell that Nedlin is a family business. You really get the chance to contribute your ideas about the future. And they are really there for you, you can always call HR. The contact is personal and the atmosphere is good. From day one you can start trying things by yourself, it’s really learning by doing. Even at the start of my internship, I wasn’t treated like an intern but as part of the team. And by now I really am, last week I signed my contract for an indefinite period. From intern to a fixed employee in a year and a half: not bad, right?”.
