The Kings opens sustainable new building for Nedlin Laundry

His Majesty the King will officially open the new sustainable laundry facility of Nedlin in Elsloo on Thursday, September 21st. The family-owned business, originally founded in Hoensbroek in 1952, provides laundry services from South Limburg to clients in the Netherlands, Belgium, and Germany in the healthcare, hospitality, and industrial sectors.

Nedlin processes and returns 750,000 kilograms of linen and clothing weekly from its three specialized facilities. Responding to increased demand from the healthcare sector in the Netherlands and Belgium, the decision was made in 2021 to construct a new laundry facility specifically for Nedlin Healthcare. The new facility is designed to be more efficient and has a smaller ecological footprint. During construction, measures were taken to enhance the building's sustainability and optimize washing processes. For instance, Nedlin installed a water purification system in the new building, allowing for complete water reuse, and utilizes residual heat from water, effectively halving CO2 emissions. Furthermore, various tasks and internal logistics in the new building have been extensively automated, making work lighter, safer, and cleaner. The new laundry has been operational since the beginning of this year.

King Willem-Alexander will attend the opening ceremony, during which Nedlin will showcase the sustainable investments and innovations implemented in the new facility. The company will demonstrate the positive impact on healthcare, employees, and the environment. Following the presentation, the King will officially open the facility and take a guided tour. Employees will explain various aspects of the laundering process and highlight the new technologies employed in the facility during the tour.
