B Local Limburg builds regional impact
Corporate responsibility is given a local face in Limburg through B Local Limburg, the first B Local in the Benelux. This community of certified B Corps and other ambitious companies is working together to create a future where value creation is central: economic, social and environmental value. Nedlin is also part of the movement.
Connect and strengthen
“Corporate sustainability is not just about what happens within a company”, says Carlos Polo-Barceló, Senior Impact Programs Coordinator at B Lab Benelux. “It’s about creating connections that strengthen whole communities. We do this by bringing businesses together around shared values, shared challenges and a common vision for a fair, inclusive and regenerative economy. B Locals are crucial for this. They bring the global B Corp network to life at the local level.” B Locals are open communities where B Corps and anyone who wants to harness the power of entrepreneurship for positive impact can meet. “Think of a B Local as a neighbourhood hub for impact-driven businesses: a place where you can share ideas, partnerships emerge and action begins, right where you live and work.”
B corps in Limburg
The Limburg movement was launched by Toos Hofstede, owner of strategy agency Viastory – also a B Corp. She brought the f irst B Corps together and still chairs B Local Limburg. “I saw many opportunities for corporate social responsibility in Limburg, but knowledge sharing and cooperation were often lacking. Many networks are concentrated in the Randstad, while our region benefits from strong local connections”, she says. Nedlin has been a member from day one and is now part of the board. We contribute by sharing knowledge on technological innovations, implementing the B Corp spirit within the organisation and propagating it to our business network. Other companies have also joined, including B Corps Vebego Participation, Greentom, Moonen Packaging, Gulpener, Kipster, Oostwegel Collection, Brabantia and CHILL. Together, we organise knowledge sessions and company visits. The community is also committed to Maas Cleanup, which removes 250,000 kilos of waste from and around the river every year. Thus, B Local Limburg is more than a network, Toos stresses. “It’s about initiating positive change together. By sharing knowledge and organising activities together, we increase our regional impact and show that companies can achieve more together than each on their own. B Locals are where ideas are turned into action. This way, we contribute to a more sustainable and socially responsible economy in Limburg.”
